Shoulders are the most complex joint in the human body and when they start to hurt it can be hard to figure out what the problem is…but help is on the way! Tuesday, June 5th Dr. John Ogden (surgeon) and Dr. Rodney Dreier (physical therapist) from Ortho Four States will be donating their time and expertise to be at Home Medical Equipment Services (HMES) giving a class explaining the dynamics involved with shoulder injuries and link them to the variety of therapies, injections and surgeries that are providing the best outcomes.
Dr. Ogden is a Fellowship Trained and Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon practicing for 29 years and specializing in shoulder treatment as well as joint replacement surgery. While he is highly respected for his surgical skills he does not always turn to surgery to treat pain. He says that there are often other ways to relieve and fix shoulders, with surgery being just one option. In this class he will review some of the other effective ways to address shoulder injury and pain as well as the main surgeries.
Rodney Dreier is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University and has been with Ortho Four States since June of 2017, and specializes in movement and balance, and has worked a great deal on shoulders and nerve pain. He says that when we feel pain we usually assume that there is something wrong with the joint or the muscles but often it is just the nerves being squeezed too tight, which is easy to fix. He will be reviewing how to keep nerves “happy” and how to fix them when they aren’t, as well as what to expect when recovering from surgery.
Ortho Four States has always worked to help the community and we are so glad that they are joining Home Medical Equipment Services’ new series of classes on health and injury prevention. If you are interested in shoulders, their injuries and how to fix them, please join us June 5th at 6:30pm at the HMES office/ware house: 819 E. 9th Street, Joplin. No RSVP is needed, all are welcome.
