Dr. Ipsen is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon with specialty focus on adult spinal disorders, including the treatment of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine pathology. His particular interests include cervical spine disorders, minimally invasive techniques, and motion-preserving technology. He also specializes in neck surgery and low-back surgery as well as general orthopedic care. A native of central Missouri, Dr. Ipsen completed his medical training in Kansas City, graduating from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then stayed on at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and affiliated hospitals to complete his orthopedic surgery residency. Dr. Ipsen concluded his training with a combined orthopedic and neurosurgical spine surgery fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He is an active member of the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
